The reason that I have chosen to remain abstinent from premarital sex has nothing to do with diseases, consequences, or the possibility of ending up with a child. I believe in abstinence because I believe in the sacred specialty of marriage. One man to one woman. I want my marriage to be special, and the act of sex to have meaning. I do not want to lessen the value by giving it out to any female except the one that I will spend the rest of my life with.

Josh – 21-years-old
First off let me just say that sexual abstinence has been one of the hardest things I have ever tried to practice and though I’ve been successful at it, there have some times when it was the last thing I wanted to do. Let’s face it! Sex is one of the most physically rewarding things that God has allowed us to experience and is also one of the most natural acts that our bodies want to take part in. So why wait? Well, go beyond the rising facts of Sexually Transmitted Diseases in this world; and beyond the preachers preaching and your parents just saying it wrong and to me the answer was simple. What things about you besides emotion and thought that the world does not have access to unless you let it? I came up with 4: your love, respect, commitment and SEX! So why is it such a big deal? Because it is one of the few things that God has given me that I have control of! And for me, one day I will meet a girl that will just take my heart and I will fall in love with her. My sex is one of the greatest gifts that God has given me to give to her. How killer will it be to one day give yourself to the one that you love and will spend the rest of your life with. To me that’s worth the entire struggle and the wait!

Andrew - 20
Sex complicates everything, and I am not willing to complicate or compromise my future in that way. Being abstinent is a choice that my girlfriend and I have made, and although it is not always easy we both know that it is the best thing to do to honor each other and our God.

Kevin – 19
Staying true to my decision to remain abstinent has been by far the hardest thing for me to do. Virginity is something that no amount of money can replace so, although remaining pure is extremely hard to do, it will be one of the most rewarding decisions that I have ever made. Not only am I remaining sexually pure for myself, but I’m also doing it for my future mate. Plus … chicks dig my abs-s-stinence!

Joe – 18
I am sexually abstinent because: #1 My God tells me to be in His word. #2 The longer you wait for something the better it is. #3 I desire to protect the hearts of the girls that I date rather than damage their hearts.
I have seen young relationships fall and cut short due to sex. I’ve seen friends get pregnant and I have seen classmates with STD’s. Nobody that age should ever have to face those consequences. Plus, married people have already proven to have better and more satisfying sex lives. So it is worth the wait and everybody should get a chance to experience that
