So what if I get a girl pregnant. It’s not my problem. She should have been more careful.

If I don’t have sex I’ll be less of a man.

As long as I have no symptoms I am free of STDs.

So what if I get a girl pregnant. It’s not my problem. She should have been more careful.

Wrong. It is your problem too. And the last we checked it takes two people to make a baby. Too many guys for too long have run away from their responsibilities to the children they bring into the world. Because of that the government is cracking down on dead-beat dads and making them pay their fair share. If you get a girl pregnant and they prove the baby belongs to you—then get your wallet out because you are going to pay. You will be responsible to help financially support your child (child support) until he or she turns 18. We’re not talking about $20 a month here. Let’s try in the hundreds for starters. Abstinence protects you from such things. It’s the ultimate and best way to “be careful” so that you can avoid the responsibilities of fatherhood before you’re ready.

If I don’t have sex I’ll be less of a man.

Sex does not make the man. Character makes the man. Being a man of integrity is far more important because it goes down deep to who we really are. Character is the substance of what we are. It’s what people consider when they are deciding on whether you can be counted on.

Let’s look at it another way. What are employers looking for? They are looking for people who are honest, trustworthy, diligent, dedicated, and motivated. They want people that they can rely on to get the job done because they fulfill their responsibilities, respect others and look for ways to benefit the organization. Whether you ever had sex or not is not concern to them. But whether you can be trusted will be huge to them.

Don’t define yourself by sex. Define yourself by your character because this is what all who meet you will see. Abstinence allows you to develop your character because you don’t get caught up in the pressures and consequences of sex.

As long as I have no symptoms I am free of STDs.

Many people who have an STD don’t know that they have one (or more). While many will experience certain symptoms with STDs (click here to go to STD pages) many others have no clue. Just because they feel fine does not mean that they are disease free. Many symptom-free people have gone long periods of time (sometimes years) carrying the bacteria or viruses that cause their disease(s) leading to even more serious consequences for their bodies. Also, these people are capable of infecting others with their diseases(s). That’s why it is so important that if a person has been sexually active that they get tested for STDs (click here for STD testing information) so that they know what they are dealing with. Abstinence is the only 100% Effective way to prevent STD infections and reoccurrences.
