Is sex a bad thing?

No. Sex is not bad. Sex is actually one of the most beautiful experiences two people who have committed themselves to each other in marriage can ever experience. Sex is a great thing but it can lead to some very serious consequences like emotional heartbreak, pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases when practiced too early in life. That’s why USA100 recommends that teens wait until marriage to have sex. Marriage provides emotional, financial and health benefits which help to make sex and pregnancies the experiences they should be.

Are you exaggerating? Can you have sex and not get a disease?

The term “safe sex” has been around awhile and many people are familiar with it. Unfortunately, it’s not completely true. While condoms can help to prevent some pregnancies and STD’s they are not 100% effective because of defects in the latex, rips, tears and slippages, and because they do not cover the entire genital area. Many couples today are surprised to discover that they have become pregnant or come down with an STD even when they used condoms. The only way to be 100% sure that you will prevent pregnancies and STD’s is abstaining from any kind of sexual contact. Abstinence: 100% Effective.

Does oral sex count?

Yes. Many teens have turned to oral sex because of a desire to experience sexual pleasure while avoiding pregnancy. While oral sex can never lead to a pregnancy, it does make one vulnerable to the bacteria and viruses that cause sexually transmitted diseases. Abstinence means avoiding even oral sex in order to avoid STD’s altogether.

What is abstinence?

Abstinence is choosing not to be sexually involved with anyone until you get married. That means that you will not use any part of your body to sexually stimulate someone else’s body or to get them sexually excited. It’s drawing a line in order to protect your heart, body and future against the possible consequences of sex. It also serves to preserve a person’s emotional purity by avoiding sexual baggage that can lead to confusion and guilt.
